Being asked to choose my favourite photo from the 2025/26 season was always going to be a difficult, if not impossible task. This is because I have taken over 100,000 photos across 30+ games, covering the First Team, Under 23’s and Woman’s team – plus there are still games yet to be played. So, instead of just one photo, I have chosen a highlight from each month and a special “how did that even happen” shot.

My photojournalism background working for regional newspapers like the Kent & Sussex Courier means I document what is played out in front of me regardless of win, lose or draw. On average, I submit around 200 photos that best summarise each match, and an even smaller selection are posted on my social media pages.

The online presence of the Monarchs went worldwide earlier in the season when a 21 second video of Toby Sargent’s goal celebration against Chessington & Hook went viral. As I type this, the video has 31,128 views, which equals 2 days, 11 hours, 28 minuets and 48 seconds of watch time. It has been seen outside of the UK in countries including Brazil, India and the USA and although the momentum has slowed, the video is still being watched after 4 months.

I was privileged to be a part of the VA Vase trip to Guernsey, earning me international press photographer credentials, and more importantly to be part of Monarchs history. I thank Paul for inviting me to document the Clubs journey through this season. It has given me great enjoyment to capture the motion and emotion of each match, to play my part in promoting the Club and the Village so that more people get to see and support Staplehurst Monarchs. This may be the end of the season, but the 2026/27 pre-season will be here before you know it, so when you see me on the side lines in my high vis, give me a wave and who knows – you might be in the next viral video.
